Emerging American poet Kory Vance has different goals from many poets he knows. He’s not trying to be deep, meaningful, or inspiring; he writes poems that are entertaining and accessible to an audience beyond traditional poetry. However, he doesn’t want to compromise or simplify the art form, either. I worked with Kory to maintain the integrity of the tradition while enhancing and celebrating his unique style and conventions by sharpening, not sanding, the “quirks” of his writing. From world building and narrative structure to tonal adjustments and suggestions for improved assonance, I helped him refine this already strong collection in both content and language in time for his release date.

Hug The Universe Blog

The creator of this website wanted help developing a new series of blog posts that would encourage critical thinking through its provocative, vulnerable content. This project is a good example of not only my ability to embody an existing voice and style while finding ways to enhance it, but also build an editing partnership that is collaborative and inspiring for both parties. Our initial project became a springboard for even more ideas and work around opportunities to connect with audiences, grow market reach, and create content that champions the creator’s goals for both the site and brand.

Pear Health Website

New health concierge Pear Health wanted to build a website that went beyond telling the story of their brand and showcasing their services. I worked with them to understand their goals, mission statement, and target markets so I could create copy and suggest design elements that would speak directly to their vision and the needs of their partners and patients while embodying the reassuring, supportive ethos of the Pear brand. I also then took this knowledge of brand voice and combined it with relevant market insight to help them create a compelling, research-driven pitch deck to share with potential investors.
